Baggage Policies
Carry On Policy: Airtran Airways allows 1 carry ons per passenger. Details: For carry-on baggage, all customers traveling on AirTran Airways will be restricted to one carry-on item and one personal item. Personal items include handbags, umbrellas, walking sticks, coats, cameras, reading matter, infant food, briefcases, and laptop computers.
Checked Baggage Policy: Airtran Airways allows 1 carry ons per passenger. Details: For each fare-paying customer, AirTran Airways will allow one (1) checked piece free of charge, with size and weight limitations. The charge for a second checked bag will be $10 when paid using Online Check-In or $20 when paid at the airport kiosks and ticket counter. More than two bags are charged at $50 a piece.

Animals and Pets
Policies and pricing for traveling with an animal and/or pet such as a dog, cat or other household pet.
Airtran accepts small, domesticated cats, dogs and birds that will fit in an approved carrier under the seat.

Boarding

AirTran Airways will board unaccompanied minors, passengers traveling with infant in arms and passengers requiring special assistance before general boarding begins“ provided they have identified themselves to an AirTran Airways gate agent prior the start of general boarding. doctor’s certification confirming the individual is physically fit for air travel. Such certification
must be dated within 72 hours of the planned flight departure time.

Unaccompanied Minors
Policies concerning minors traveling without an adult: unaccompanied minors.
AirTran defines an unaccompanied minor as a child at least five (5) years of age but less than twelve (12) years of age who is not accompanied by a customer twelve (12) years of age or older. Unaccompanied minors will be accepted for travel, with limitations, based on their itinerary. A child five (5) to seven (7) years of age will be accepted only on nonstop or direct flights between their origin and destination. A child eight (8) to eleven (11) years of age will be accepted even if their itinerary involves a connecting flight, provided the connecting flight is not the last flight of the day to their destination.
