Baggage Policies
Carry On Policy: Delta Airlines allows 2 carry ons per passenger. Details: Delta allows for two carry-ons per passenger; one bag and one personal item.
- Weighs less than 40 pounds (18 kg).
- Does not exceed 45 inches when you total length plus width plus height.
- Fits easily in our SizeCheck® unit (approximately 22"x14"x9").
- Fits in an overhead bin or underneath the seat in front of you.
These additional items are okay to carry on and do not count towards your allowance:- Food items for immediate consumption
- Assistive devices such as wheelchairs or crutches, provided passenger is dependent on them
- One box or bag of duty free merchandise
- A coat or jacket
- An umbrella
- One item of reading material
Checked Baggage Policy: Delta Airlines allows 1 carry ons per passenger. Details: You can check one bag per passenger free of charge when traveling in the U. S., the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico. If traveling outside the U.S. you can check two bags free of charge.
On April 9, 2008, we announced that we would begin charging $25 for a second checked bag effective for all travel on or after May 5, 2008. Although this fee applied to all passengers regardless of when they purchased their ticket, we have made a business decision to offer those passengers who purchased tickets prior to April 9, 2008 for travel after May 5, 2008, a rebate of this fee. Your can check your eligibility for the rebate or request a rebate online.

Animals and Pets
Policies and pricing for traveling with an animal and/or pet such as a dog, cat or other household pet.
Pets as Carry On
Your pet can travel with you in the cabin for a one-way fee of $100 (to be collected at check-in) when traveling within the United States (except Hawaii), Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Bermuda. Pets permitted in the cabin include dogs, cats, birds, ferrets, rabbits, hamsters and guinea pigs. Monkeys, pot-bellied pigs, reptiles, frogs, mice, rats, sugar gliders, and spiders are not permitted.
Pets As Checked Baggage
You can transport a total of two kennels per flight. Giant-size kennels can only be shipped as cargo. Additional restrictions apply according to aircraft and class of service. he one-way fee for checking your pet on all flights is $200. If you and your pet are making a transfer to another airline, be sure to allow time to claim your animal and re-check it with the connecting airline.

Check In

Online Check-in allows you to bypass lines at the airport by printing your boarding passes online. As long as your travel doesn't require a VISA, you can use this service if you have an e>ticket for any flight on Delta, Delta Connection®, Delta Shuttle®, and when connecting on Delta's Through Check-in partners. Log on to delta.com from 24 hours to 30 minutes before a flight within the U.S. or 60 minutes prior to an international flight, go to Online Check-in, and follow the simple instructions.

Expectant Mothers
Policies and procedures concerning expectant mothers.
Delta Airlines does not have restrictions for pregnant women, so you don't need a medical certificate to travel. However, keep in mind that ticket change fees and penalties aren't waived for pregnancy. If you're traveling after your eighth month, it's a good idea to check with your doctor to be sure it will be ok.

You can travel with one infant in your lap without a purchasing a ticket if:
- The infant is less than two years old, AND
- You are at least 18 years old or the infant's legal guardian, AND
- Your travel is within the U.S.
When a ticket Is required
- You'll need to purchase a ticket for your child when you:
- Have a child that is age two or older.
- Prefer the child to sit in a seat in order to travel in an approved restraint.
- Have a second child, regardless of age, and you already have a child who will be sitting in your lap.
- Want your child to earn miles in his SkyMiles account.
- Will be traveling between countries regardless of whether or not the child occupies a seat.

Bereavement
In the event of a death in your immediate family, airlines sometimes allow for discounted travel.
If you are traveling outside of the United States or to/from Alaska or Hawaii, we offer bereavement fares. Tickets must be purchased in person at any Delta ticketing location. For reservations or pricing, call Delta Reservation Sales. These fares are not available at delta.com.
The following information is required so that you can purchase a ticket using discounted Bereavement Fares:
- Passenger's relationship to the deceased
- Name and phone number of funeral home, hospital, or hospice
- Name of doctor (if applicable)

Unaccompanied Minors
Policies concerning minors traveling without an adult: unaccompanied minors.
- Unaccompanied service is required for all children 5–14 years old when not traveling in the same compartment with an adult at least 18 years old or the child's parent/legal guardian.
- Children ages 5–7 years can only fly on nonstop or direct flights with no change of planes.
- Children ages 8–14 years can fly on nonstop or connecting flights, but may not connect to other airlines, with the exception of Delta Connection carriers (excluding AA Eagle) and Air France.
- Children 15–17 are not required to have unaccompanied service but we will provide it when requested.
- An unaccompanied child can not be booked on the last connecting flight of the evening. This is to prevent the need for an overnight stay in a hotel. Contact Reservation Sales before you book here at delta.com if you have questions about connecting flights.
